Melissa “Missy” Rose, PT, DPT, C/NDT

Founder, Pediatric Physical Therapist

As a dedicated pediatric physical therapist, with 34 years of experience, I am passionate about empowering children to reach their full potential through play-based therapy. Since 1990, I have witnessed the transformative power of play in fostering growth, building confidence, and achieving meaningful progress in thousands of children. I am committed to supporting families every step of the way. I provide personalized, playful and compassionate care that makes a lasting difference in the lives of children and their families I serve.

Working in the Early Intervention setting, I take a holistic approach of care by focusing on the whole child and their family. While supporting gross motor development is central to my work, I also emphasize nurturing social-emotional, language, self-help, feeding, cognitive and fine motor skills. By partnering closely with families, I create personalized strategies that fit seamlessly into their daily routines, empowering them to support their child’s growth without the pressure of traditional therapy homework.

Before opening Playtime Physical Therapy and Associates in 2022, I worked at Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters for 17 years in their Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Units; post-operative care; orthopedic, spina bifida, NICU follow up, casting and cerebral palsy clinics; outpatient and aquatic clinics; burn and rehabilitation units; and home health. I also served as a therapy supervisor for seven years and assisted in the development of the Aquatics and Sports Medicine Programs. Following CHKD I worked at Select Kids (formerly known as Physiotherapy Associates) from 2005-2022, working mainly in the early intervention setting as well as the outpatient setting. I was also a National Pediatric Faculty Member for Select Medical.

I have built my life around supporting children with developmental delays and disabilities, including neurodevelopmental and intellectual challenges, Down Syndrome, cerebral palsy, sensory processing disorders, self-regulation issues, social and emotional difficulties, learning disabilities, developmental coordination disorders and the unique considerations of prematurity. Although this has been my career for decades, it is also my passion — I truly love what I do every single day!
